July: The beach season begins.
Leave the first footprints on the sandy beach.
The ocean, selected as one of Japan’s Top 100 Beaches, is right outside the window at
.
The beach season at Takeno Beach opens around July 1 every year. The water is still a bit cold, there aren’t many people yet, and the water is at its clearest.
We’ve put together this plan just in time for the start of summer. It’s a zero-second walk to the ocean. Wake up to the sound of the waves in the morning, dip your feet in the water at sunset, and return to your quiet room at night. That’s all there is to this two-night stay.
Things to Do Here This Summer.
-
, walking along the deserted beach in the morning.Check-in is in the afternoon, but
the beach is all yours starting at 5 a.m. the next morning.Even in summer, the sandy beach is completely quiet before sunrise.
As you listen to the sound of the waves, try leaving your first footprints. -
In the evening, at the fishing port, I attended the auction at
.This port is home to an “evening auction,” which is a rare sight even in Japan.
Fish caught this evening rather than this morning.
With permission from local fishermen,
you can watch the auction up close.
(Dates are subject to change depending on the season and weather). -
At night, we gather around the summer sea and the bounty of our local
.Tajima beef, local horse mackerel, and summer vegetables.
Rather than luxury, I’d rather have the best day possible.
