[Haruya Kibata (Jazz Pianist)]
Born December 24, 1974. Resides in Takarazuka City, Hyogo Prefecture.
He began studying classical piano at an early age.
He has performed in numerous concerts, including collaborations with symphony orchestras.
At age 14, he took a break from music and did not attend high school. After passing the University Entrance Qualification Examination at age 18, he enrolled in the Jazz Department at Senzoku Gakuen Junior College at age 22.
That is when he began playing jazz, studying under Masaaki Imaizumi.
He returned to the Kansai region and formed the co-led band “KIBATANABAND” with trumpeter Yoichi Tanaka.
In his 20s, he performed alongside great musicians such as Peter Washington, Kenny Washington, Lewis Nash, Eddie Henderson, and Terumasa Hino, learning a great deal from them.
After moving to Tokyo, he temporarily fell ill and returned to the Kansai region.
Since then, based in Kansai, he has been active throughout Japan, performing on tours and at jazz festivals.
As a pianist who combines a feel rooted in tradition with a beautiful sound influenced by classical and Brazilian music, he has many fans nationwide.
He has also released numerous compositions.
While performing throughout the country, he serves as a lecturer in the Jazz Department at Osaka College of Music, mentoring the next generation of musicians.
He has mentored numerous professional pianists and singers.
To date, he has released two albums as a bandleader.

[The 100-Year-Old Piano]
The 100-Year-Old Piano was manufactured in Germany in 1922 and imported directly in 1926 after prominent figures in Takeno raised funds, driven by their desire to “bring authentic music to children.”
It had long been cherished at the local elementary school and throughout the Takeno community, but over the years, it had fallen into a state requiring restoration. It was then, through a stroke of fate, that the 100-Year-Old Piano found its way to the Okukinosaki Seaside Hotel.
“We want to bring this piano—which has accompanied the children’s singing and watched over the town’s history—back to life once again.” Driven by this strong desire, and thanks to the tremendous support of the local community, those who worked tirelessly on the restoration, and everyone across the country who contributed through crowdfunding, we were able to carry out a complete restoration.
With deep gratitude, we warmly welcome you all alongside this 100-year-old piano.
