“Birth”: The Story Behind the Place Name .<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Once upon a time, the Thirteen Deities set out from Izumo and headed east.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On that occasion, we encountered a storm off the coast of the Nekozaki Peninsula and anchored the boat to take shelter at a spot near the base of the peninsula\u2014right next to this inn.And it is said that a new, fourteenth deity was born there.People celebrate the birth of this new god and call this land \u201cBirth.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Takeno Fishing Port is right in front of us. Fresh fish caught that morning are landed daily and served on plates and trays the very same day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to visiting fishing grounds, we also go directly to local farmers to carefully select our ingredients. Both the rice and the vegetables are sourced from this region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This year, our hotel celebrated the milestone of its 55th anniversary.
I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to all of you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On this special occasion, we would like to share \u201cThe Story of This Land,\u201d which represents our roots.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Takeno Town, where our hotel is located, bears the marks of a geological history dating back some 80 million years and has long been known by the highly unusual name \u201cBirth.\u201d It also boasts a history of prosperity as a port of call for Kitamae ships and as a town known for its gold mines. Furthermore, it features a topography rare even in Japan\u2014the \u201cone town, one river, one watershed\u201d\u2014where a single river flows exclusively through this town, from its source to the Sea of Japan. Our hotel stands at the river\u2019s terminus, a mystical place where the myth of \u201cTanjo\u201d is told.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Based on this concept of \u201cbirth,\u201d we designed the interior using Eastern philosophies such as the \u201ccycle of life\u201d and the \u201cprinciple of yin and yang\u201d as motifs,The space consists of a white-toned area representing \u201cthe mother\u2019s womb (tenderness and warmth)\u201d and a black-toned area representing \u201cthe journey through the womb (exploration and curiosity).\u201d We showcase a variety of works on the theme of \u201cBirth\u201d by official artists (OKUKINOSAKI ART PROJECT).Our cuisine is based on the Buddhist concept of \u201cShichiri Shih\u014d\u201d and features ingredients carefully selected from the local harvest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Launched in 2020 to mark the 50th anniversary of the company\u2019s founding. Drawing inspiration from the thirteen deities in the \u201cCreation Myth\u201d passed down in Takeno Town, we invited 13 groups of artists active both in Japan and abroad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Using their own unique artistic styles, each artist has transformed the grandeur of nature and the mystery of this land\u2014the birthplace of life\u2014into works of art.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As you explore the artworks scattered throughout the hotel and your heart is moved, you will become the fourteenth pillar. That is our wish, and it is one of the concepts we hope to offer you during your stay.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
